And uhh, the writing style change is jarring to say the least. I felt like the dialogue and Max's monologues had a more vulgar edge this time around, like there was an artsy nature to it previously that simply did not come through here. I dunno, maybe I'm nitpicking. The gameplay's pretty good at least, there's a stronger focus on cover based shooting and they clearly designed it largely as an action game first. And yet, they're not entirely against the spirit of the old games. Max is still working through some unhealthy coping mechanisms, he clearly hasn't let go of his past yet, and he's at least still trying to see his job through, so they got that part right. I dunno, so far I prefer 2's writing. But I still have at least half a game to go through, so we'll see where we go Thursday.
